Ain't no thing but a chicken wing

Jeff loves Hardy's in Bend. They serve wings (obviously). On our last trip Cayden decided to not order off the kid's menu and give wings with Honey BBQ sauce a try. He actually ate 3 before he asked me for part of my hamburger. Here they are - father and son gnawing on wings. I just want it known that I think they are discusting.

Art Class

Cayden just took another art class and enjoyed it. He chose it over tennis and golf (much to Jeff's dismay). Here are the pieces he created during the week:

Zebra - my favorite. Big Body, Small Head
Star Fish

Pumpkin (probably his best piece)

Apples on black background
Good for Cayden!

Piano Recital

Cayden and mom
Cayden and Corey

Cayden had his 1st Piano Recital on Saturday, June 12th. He did great. He performed two songs in front of a small crowd and did his songs flawlessly. I am very proud of how much he has learned in the last 9 months. The songs he performed were, "Bells of Great Britain" and "Lemonande Stand". Practices will start up again in the fall!

Cayden Strikes Again

A little background is required for this story:

We have an amazing babysitter, Corey, who has been with us for 4 years. She graduated this year and will be moving away to go to college. The other night she was over babysitting and Cayden asked her why she wouldn't be babysitting anymore.

Corey: I am going to college
Cayden: Why? What will you do there?
Corey: I am going to study to be a history teacher like your mom (see why I love her?)
Cayden: Oh, I thought you were going to do something more important than that.

What?!? However, yesterday, Cayden had his dear friend Hogan over and I happened to walk in the kitchen while they were eating lunch.

Cayden: Mom, was it the Cuban Missile Crisis when the bombs left the shadows of the people burned on the walls?
Me: (beaming proudly - I mean these two 7 years are discussing history over sloppy joes) No, that was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan at the end of WWII.
Cayden to Hogan: I told you so.

And, finally, today Cayden told me that he wanted to be either "a marine biologist, the President, or the World's Best Basketball Player because that doesn't require a lot of college."

This is what summer brings at my household!

Story

Dogs are better than duscusting cats
Dogs are teriffick. One dogs help people. Dogs help blinde people cross the street. Next dogs are more activ than cats. Dogs play cats donte. Last dogs are not duscuting. Dogs do (think it is supposed to be "don't") spit out hair balls. Clearly dogs are teriffick.
This is a story that Cayden wrote for school. I thought it was pretty terrific and funny. We do have a cat at home and she is no ones favorite. Lately, she has been staying outside all night and keeping quite busy. We have been picking up dead mice and birds off of our porch that she has been leaving us. It is disgusting! We also have three dogs at home but none of them has ever helped a blind (or seeing) person across the street. And, they actually do spit up "hair" balls.

Yes, it is true. I was the irresponsible one. I lost my Flip Video about 6 weeks ago and I keep hoping that I will find it somewhere. I haven't so I decided to show my husband how much I love him and I bought him a new one for Father's Day. I know, that was REAL nice of me. He doesn't seem as happy about it as I thought he would be. WEIRD. He originally purchased one for me for Christmas and I loved it. I have missed it. I am not usually the one who loses things so it is hard for me to admit that it is gone. But, now, I have one question. Do I have to wait for him to open the box before I start using it?

By the way, if you haven't seen how cool the Flip Videos are I would suggest you check it out.

Calvin and Hobbes (with an essss) at the end

My mom got Cayden a Calvin and Hobbes book that had a huge collection of the comic strips in it. She noticed that he liked to read the comics in the newspaper and she figured he might like a book too. Well, he loves it. He has read that book cover to cover more times than I can count. Today, I was at Barnes and Noble and there was another one in the Bargain Book Section so I picked it up. He is currently in his room and I think it will be hard to get him to put it down. The funniest part is that he calls them Calvin and Hobbes (esss). I've told him a couple of times that isn't how you pronounce it but now I just let it be because it is cute!
