Halloween Night

Before we left (he chose the Tiger)
Getting ready for trick or treating

Halloween Bird or Tiger

Bryce has three costumes to choose from this year for Halloween. He can be a tiger, Barney, or Big Bird. This morning he decided to try the Big Bird costume on and I think it might be my favorite. He looks pretty cute! Cayden will be a ninja. Stay tuned for those pictures!

What Bryce says about 500 times a day: Why?

and several hundred versions of the same question. Sometimes, it is "why mommy?" and sometimes after I answer him he asks again right away. It can be so maddening that my only recourse is to laugh or ignore him. Jeff actually asked me the other day if Bryce really wants the answer and I said, "no, I think he is doing it to drive me crazy." That can be the only explanation.

The Pumpkin Patch

Waiting for the wheelbarrow and Nana

Beautiful day with Smith Rock in the background

We went to the pumpkin patch with Nana this year as we have done every year for the past 4 or maybe 5. Usually the rule is that you can pick any pumpkin that you can carry. Well, we threw that rule right out the window this year.

In the corn maze
Which way do we go?

My boys

Bryce and Nana
The corn maze is a tradition around here. However, it is not a leisurely event. I don't worry about getting lost in the corn maze with Jeff at the helm. I also don't worry about having much unorganized fun. Jeff is all about starting the maze and finishing in record time. This year's time: 20 minutes. Lucky we even got to stop for a few pictures.

Leavin' on a Jet Plane

As we were flying cross country it happened AGAIN. I realized that I HATE flying. I tell Cayden not to use that word because it is an ugly word and should only apply to the worst things but in this case I will use that "H" word because flying makes me physically ill. I can't ever eat the day I fly because my stomach is so tied up in knots it just makes me feel like vomitting. The older I have gotten the worse I feel. I flew in airplanes from the time I was young. I would even fly by myself a couple times a year. Now, any bumps or "weird" sounds and I instantly have tears. Thankfully for my children my husband is cool and collected about flying. Unfortunately for me he thinks my fear is silly and does his best to support me while giggling at my death grip on take off and descent. And, believe me, if I weren't traveling with my children I would certainly drug myself for my flight. Someday they will be older and won't mind having their mom in a drug induced sleep for the entire flight... those will be the days. I don't think I will ever be one of those people who is so afraid that I will REFUSE air travel but I certainly understand their fears.

Bryce on the Metro

Cayden and Austyn on the Metro

Almost two weeks ago our family took a trip back East to the D.C. area to be a part of Anne's wedding. She was getting married on 10/10/10 (she swears she didn't plan it :) )and I was going to be a bridesmaid and Cayden... well, his main job was just to look cute. And, he did. Anyhow.... we packed up our bags and set about for the long cross country trip. We took a couple of extra days so that we could see the sights. We had a great time seeing as much as we could see and being a part of the beautiful wedding. We don't have many pictures of the actual wedding because they don't put pockets in bridesmaid dresses and Jeff had his hands full with Bryce.

(and a little side note- we didn't have to pack any diapers! yahoo Bryce)
